Jan Harmon was born in Saginaw, Michigan on May 8, 1940 and lived in many places from southern California to Maine. Her creativity flourished throughout her life. She was a published poet, a writer of short stories and biographical non-fiction, as well as a prolific composer of choral music, topical songs, ballads, rounds, musicals, and instrumental pieces. Her soft sculptures were exhibited in museums in the Los Angeles area, and her fabric masks and costumes were part of many theatrical productions. Jan died from leukemia on July 22, 1993, leaving us a rich legacy of music and thoughts.
